I Have a Celebrity Crush on Vincent D'Onofrio

A-Z blogging Challenge
"C" is for Celebrity Crush

Before meeting Vincent D'Onofrio I often dreamed about what my reaction would be if I were ever to meet him. He is after all just like you and I but yet I crave every new movie or picture made available to us. The paparazzi catch him on his bike riding the streets of New York , dressed in black and sporting sunglasses and I'm thrilled.

It's easy to blame the media for this "cognitive whiplash". But reality is it's my mind telling me that Vincent would make a great lover, husband or friend. Let's face it, Vincent's smile, his beautiful eyes and the way he talks with his hands are impossible to ignore. But when I indulge daily with Vincent even he is as distant as the heavens above.

Even Reality TV. transforms every day folks into celebrities. Even celebrities themselves aren't immune to watching Reality TV.

Celebrities foster our human yearnings of love, admiration, and gossip.

Is it not true that being a Vincent fan is a common currency in our "fractured" world? The common housewife, collage student, and even  men can spend hours watching Vincent on television or the internet, reading blogs, and the like. And during that time the world seems to be a little better.

There's something about Vincent that almost seems magical.  Pre-Vincent Encounter I wondered if meeting him would make me feel more real as a person. It wouldn't be so much that I was seeing Vincent, but more that Vincent was seeing me.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wrote this article well over a year ago and can now tell you that I view Vincent to be way more than "just a celebrity".  I hope over the next couple of weeks as I continue to make posts that you will see Vincent in the same light as I do.

  3. The whole celebrity crush thing really is fascinating to me. Your picture of him on the bike made me laugh...I was thrilled to see that too but it's not like I didn't suspect the man knew how to ride a bike. When Whitney Houston died I found myself debating many people who were upset that people were expressing grief. Their position was hey, she was a drug addict so why should anyone care if she died? The reality is even those celebrities whose personal lives aren't modeled after Mother Theresa have touched us in some way. They are really good at something, like acting, and that something did make our day a little better. Sometimes I think people expect way too much from their celebrity crushes but us Vincent fans don't even have to go down that road. He's a class act on top of everything else.

  4. My, you are smitten, aren't you? I had a crush on a Vincent once, but he wasn't famous. I used to think crushes on people you see every day in your 'real' life would be even more powerful that celebrity crushes, but after seeing this website, perhaps I need to re-evaluate!

  5. Great posts here Bev! And I would expect nothing less of your blog watchers; as you never fail to peak our interest. You have an uncanny knack for stirring up the most passionate sides of our need-to-know everything Vincent! You did indeed make your encounter with him one to treasure for many years to come! He is as we all agree, one CLASS ACT! He personfies all the qualities that make the greatest stars truly great. He has maintained extraodinary credibility as a consummate professional, always dignified, humble and decent, but even more intriguing, he manages to save his best qualities for the many roles he fills outside of the glitz and glamor of Hollywood as a husband, a father and a humanitarian. It's no wonder we love this man who public and private personas that undeniably remain impeccable and inspirational in the eyes of those that admire him so much...and Bev, you are quite likely one of the most unwaivering in your love of and your devotion to him. Thank you for sharing so much with all of us. Your work, while a labor of love, is always unique, fresh and such a contagious pleasure! It is an absolute delight to see Vincent through your eyes!

  6. Very cool that you got to meet him! I tried to get my brothers to try out for Johnny Depp's current movie, because they were doing a casting call here at the college, but they wouldn't do it. So disappointing.

  7. I remember seeing him in the movie the cell...scary stuff. He played a bad guy well...though you also felt sorry for him too.

  8. Goren and Eames is what made SVU: Criminal Intent the show that is was. He has a way about his acting that just kind of pulls you in. I don't think I feel quite as deeply about him as you do, but I definitely enjoy him! Fun post... glad I found you on the A-Z challenge.

  11. I like Vincent--I have since he was in Full Metal Jacket. I'm sure that I would be speechless if I ever ran into a celebrity--but they may be glad for that!
