Back in 1990 Vincent D'Onofrio did a movie called The NAKED Tango with Matilda May. It's set in Argentina during the 1920's. Matilda May is Stephanie. Stephanie (Mathilda May) is bored with her life as the wife of an old-coot judge (Fernando Rey). On a cruise ship with her husband, she pretends to fall overboard but instead takes on the identity of a mail-order bride from Poland. What she sees as a momentary lark becomes a living hell when her groom, Zico (Esai Morales), sells her into white slavery. Forced to do the unspeakable, Stephanie is suicidal until she meets Cholo.Vincent plays Cholo, a charismatic killer who's not into sex. Cholo Tango's.Something about Stephanie attracted Cholo. It could have been her Louise Brooks haircut, possibly the manacles she sometimes wore. In any case, the attraction was instant and kinky. Cholo and Stephanie dance and dance. Once, when they are tangoing, Stephanie is not wearing clothes, which helps to give the movie its title. Another time each holds a dagger under the each other's chin. They while away another night tangoing in a bloody but otherwise empty abattoir.
The film takes its title from the machismo associated with the Tango. The movie takes a traditional path of the captive coming to adore her captor.
Vincent also played "The NAKED Stranger" in a short called Hotel Paradise, with Theresa Russell. Not, in my opinion, an especially fantastic movie unless you're a Vincent D'Onofrio fan. Then it's an absolute must have because he is especially delicious in it. So if you're interested in a little V eye candy, I highly recommend it.
