"S" is for the Salton Sea
A-Z Blogging Challenge
Vincent played this outrageous, drug dealer in the Salton Sea. He lost his nose from doing to much coke and now has to were a prosthetic. "Pooh Bear" and his gang of low lifes are, to be kind, the worst kind of freaks you could ever hope to encounter. Hope that you never encounter Pooh, who doesn't think twice about popping your brain out of its socket with a vice and a hacksaw, and making lunch out of it if you short him on a deal. It is totally gross. Vincent offers up a compelling and transfixing character performance.
Vincent describes how he came up with the idea for his character of "Pooh Bear" in the above video. He gained 45lbs for his role. When he returned to start filming for the movie, director D.J. Caruso didn't even recognize him.

I've been a big fan of Vincent D'Onofrio's for a couple years now. Enjoyed Law and Order:Criminal Intent since it's premiere. I AM CANADIAN! :) and proud of it.
Freak is right...but totally compelling! This is one of the most amazing performances I've ever seen Vincent give!
ReplyDeleteYeah this was a wicked weird movie but I loved it and Pooh Bear's character was creepy!
ReplyDeleteThe whole nose thing weirded me out.
ReplyDeleteDear Bev,
ReplyDeleteI know I've seen him in movies before and yes, he is a great actor. I really like what you have done here. Great job!!
Awesome movie, unforgettable character. The JFK pigeon!
ReplyDeleteI saw the movie and recall liking it, but like most films I see I don't really remember it. Another one that I'll have to watch again.
ReplyDeleteNow a follower to put you closer to the magic 100.

I've never been able to make it through is movie. Might have to give it another try.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen this movie, but it sounds like somethingI'd like, thanks for the tip! Stopping by from then A-Z Challenge
ReplyDeleteDid you even watch the movie.Coke wasn't what he did too much of to lose his nose.It was meth, remember,he was a meth cook, the movie was about meth culture,I don't recall a single coke reference in the entire movie
ReplyDeleteBecause D'Onofrio breathed only through his mouth in all of his scenes, it made him seem totally unhinged.
