"Y" is for Yikes! and Yummy!

So my computer has Yet another Trojan virus. Had to bring it in for repair for the second time in less than two weeks.  YIKES!   Thankfully the technician is willing to fix it for free. But that leave me without my Vincent photo library for a few days. Which is a sad thing.

After my scare last time, thinking that I had lost all my pictures, I've been looking around for a external hard drive. One that is the best buy with the max capacity. Do I want a portable one? etc.   Starting to feel a little more pressure with the computer ending up in the "hospital" for a second time.

So today I'll have to have to rely on the vast supply of  "Yummy" Vincent pictures to satisfy you today.

Utah Meth Cops Project- Ride for a Hero Event

The Utah Meth Cops Project formed out of a need to help ailing police officers who were exposed to toxic meth labs regain their quality of life. They put their lives on the line to make their community safer and they are paying the price with their own health. The program was implemented in January of 2010 and Vincent has been their spokesperson from it's beginnings. The Ride for a Hero Event this year is being held at Timpango's Harley Davidson in Lindon, Utah. Registrats, supporters and fans alike will have an opportunity to donate to Utah Meth Cops Project as well as meet Vincent D'Onofrio (prior to registration).

When Vincent D’Onofrio Speaks With His Hands, We Listen With Our Hearts

"T" for Talk

Gesture and speech are so tightly connected that one can’t be done without the other. Our hands say a lot about what’s going on in our heads. Our brains are hard-wired to use our hands to perfectly communicate our thoughts and convictions.

I think most of you can agree that there is an attraction to Vincent’s hands, be it their size or long fingers. We are mesmerized when he “talks” with his hands and are held at attention. While watching Vincent speak recently in a Q&A session, it was obvious by his hand gestures that he was confident and felt strongly about what he was saying. Vincent is a great one for talking with his palms open. Open hands usually express truth, honesty, allegiance and submission. It is an encouraging gesture. He holds his palm to form a plate to gently offer his ideas to others as he moves his hand forward. You’ll notice the bigger the idea the wider his arms are held out. When he turns his palms down he demands a certain air of authority. He suggests that his idea is correct and will not waver on that opinion.

Even Vincent’s fingers have been brought to our attention and have played an active roll while he speaks. His thumb alone has been viewed as a phallic symbol and has caused many a woman to stir.

When people feel secure while speaking their thumbs will rise more often as they speak, especially if their fingers are intertwined. Steepling of your fingers is also a sign of confidence; it is probably the most powerful display of confidence one can possess.

Why do we find Vincent D’Onofrio’s hands, fingers, palms and wrists so attractive? We can thank our temporal lobes for that, located in our brains behind our ears. The temporal lobes respond exclusively to hand shape. Thanks to the temporal lobes, hands “speak” to us and attract almost as much attention as faces.

I have often noticed that Vincent will bring his hand to his face and extend his index finger along his cheek, with his remaining fingers below his mouth. This is a sign that conveys an impression of deep thought. If his middle finger covers his mouth it may be a sign that he’s thinking about something but is not yet ready to speak out loud. Vincent also has a tendency to speak with his finger in the pointed position. Some may view this as an over aggressive and rude gesture. I’d like to believe that he is just adding an “exclamation mark” on his statement. I see it as being goal-oriented and focused.

Another thing I have observed while “watching” Vincent speak is the way he runs his hand through his hair. Preening is a common action, and may be a romantic invitation, a signal of superiority, or may indicate feelings of vulnerability. This could also be a pacifying gesture to help deal with stress, similar to rubbing his neck.

When the hands speak, the eyes—and the heart—listen. And that is more than true when it comes to Vincent.

Vincent D'Onofrio as "Pooh Bear" in the Salton Sea

"S" is for the Salton Sea
A-Z Blogging Challenge

Vincent played this outrageous, drug dealer in the Salton Sea. He lost his nose from doing to much coke and now has to were a prosthetic. "Pooh Bear" and his gang of low lifes are, to be kind, the worst kind of freaks you could ever hope to encounter. Hope that you never encounter Pooh, who doesn't think twice about popping your brain out of its socket with a vice and a hacksaw, and making lunch out of it if you short him on a deal. It is totally gross. Vincent offers up a compelling and transfixing character performance.

Vincent describes how he came up with the idea for his character of "Pooh Bear" in the above video.  He gained 45lbs for his role. When he returned to start filming for the movie, director D.J. Caruso didn't even recognize him.

"R" is for Random

So I'm totally stumped on my post for "R" for the A-Z challenge.  So I did a Google search using this phrase "sexy words that start with "R". Why sexy you ask? Well this is a blog about Vincent D'Onofrio so it seemed like a natural fit.

14 words came up.  I picked my favorite 5 and matched them up with a photo of Vincent.

Relaxed
Vincent takes 10 before going on Morning Joe to talk about "Kill the Irishman".

Rugged
Vincent had a little scruff, a lot of buff and a lot of sexy in the movie "Salute of the Jugger"

Remarkable
Vincent did an outstanding job as a simple minded soldier gone crazy in the movie Full Metal Jacket. His performance was very noteworthy and should have won him an Oscar.

Romantic
Vincent plays Sam Deed, time traveler, who comes back to the past to find his true love, in Happy Accidents.

Riveting
Vincent has the capability to arouse and hold the attention of the audience when he speaks about his career and acting.

"O" is for "Ole"

Tony "Ole" Olezniak is a former football player that had to give up his sport because of a freak injury on the field.  A whack to the back of his head causes him to go blind and changes his life as he knew it.  "Ole" (Vincent D'Onofrio) had everything going for him and life became very bitter for him once he went blind. He lost his fame, he lost his girlfriend and he lost his zest for life. But that all begins to change when a wheelchair bound denturist (Gregory Hines) challenges him to join him in a white water rafting race.

This has got to be one of my favorite Vincent films. It's not very often that we are treated to the humourous side of Vincent and this one is loaded.  The chemistry between Vincent and Gregory is wonderful. Do yourself a favour and watch "Good Luck", you'll be glad you did.

"N" is for Naked!

Back in 1990 Vincent D'Onofrio did a movie called The NAKED Tango with Matilda May.  It's set in Argentina during the 1920's.   Matilda May is Stephanie. Stephanie (Mathilda May) is bored with her life as the wife of an old-coot judge (Fernando Rey). On a cruise ship with her husband, she pretends to fall overboard but instead takes on the identity of a mail-order bride from Poland. What she sees as a momentary lark becomes a living hell when her groom, Zico (Esai Morales), sells her into white slavery. Forced to do the unspeakable, Stephanie is suicidal until she meets Cholo.Vincent plays Cholo, a charismatic killer who's not into sex. Cholo Tango's.Something about Stephanie attracted Cholo. It could have been her Louise Brooks haircut, possibly the manacles she sometimes wore. In any case, the attraction was instant and kinky. Cholo and Stephanie dance and dance. Once, when they are tangoing, Stephanie is not wearing clothes, which helps to give the movie its title. Another time each holds a dagger under the each other's chin. They while away another night tangoing in a bloody but otherwise empty abattoir.

The film takes its title from the machismo associated with the Tango. The movie takes a traditional path of the captive coming to adore her captor.

Vincent also played "The NAKED Stranger" in a short called Hotel Paradise, with Theresa Russell.  Not, in my opinion,  an especially fantastic movie unless you're a Vincent D'Onofrio fan. Then it's an absolute must have because he is especially delicious in it.  So if you're interested in a little V eye candy, I highly recommend it.

Video: All You Love Is My Dick! Mystic Pizza Clip.

"M" is for Mystic Pizza
Did you know that Vincent D'Onofrio was in the movie Mystic Pizza?  I know most remember that movie for Julia Roberts but I believe it's Vincent that makes that movie unforgettable. He plays Bill, boyfriend to JoJo (Lili Taylor) . Bill insists on marriage and a lifelong commitment while Jojo is content on being obsessed with Bill's big wrists and having sexual dalliances in bathrooms and other nookie nitches. The role reversal of the man wanting marriage and the woman wanting sex and being afraid of commitment is fairly entertaining but far from groundbreaking. Bill renames his fishing boat Jojo in her honor after she agrees to marry him, but after she recants and they are discovered fooling around by his traditional parents he renames the boat Nympho.

I just purchased a old VHS copy of this a couple weeks ago. I was like a kid in a candy store. It had the original artwork on the cover which I adore. If I find a Vincent movie I just have to buy it. Weather I have it already or not.

"L" is for Law and Order: Criminal Intent

I thought I can't let the A-Z challenge go by with out paying homage to one of my favorite shows ever, Law and Order: Criminal Intent.  Long before I became a fan of Vincent, not even knowing who he was really, my husband and I became addicted to the show almost since it's premiere.  There was something uniguely different about the show that kept us coming back week after to week. The series pays attention to the actions and motives of the criminals, rather than focusing exclusively on the police and prosecutions. A feature of each Criminal Intent episode is that the cold open always involves a series of cut-scenes that show events from the suspects' and victims' lives, leading up to the crime. Clues to the crime's eventual solution can often be found in this teaser sequence. Unlike other Law & Order series, most Criminal Intent episodes end in confessions rather than continuing to the trial phase. Det. Bobby Goren's clever and quirky interrogation style left us begging for more.

Vincent started with the show back in 2001. During Seasons 5-8 Vincent alternated episodes with Chris Noth. Vincent left the series in the Season 9 premiere, which aired in two parts on March 30 and April 6.On September 22, 2010, Variety announced that Criminal Intent had been renewed, and that Vincent D'Onofrio would be returning to the series as Detective Robert Goren for its final season.

There's been campaigns for the return of LOCI but personally I think the actors have moved on and are looking forward to new ventures.

18 Ways to Kiss Vincent D'Onofrio

"K" is for Kiss

Vincent effectively demonstrates through his characters in his movies, various methods of Kissing.  I'm rather fond of No. 5 myself.
Guy

1. The French Kiss
Probably the most famous kiss there is, the French kiss is an open-mouthed kiss where one person's tongue touches the other person's tongue. Also called a "tongue kiss," the French kiss easy enough to execute, but it can take years to master.

Desire

2. The Butterfly Kiss
To give someone a butterfly kiss, get close to them so the tips of your eyelashes are touching theirs. Then blink very fast so your eyelashes flutter together like butterfly wings. It's a fun, cute thing to do while you're catching your breath from more traditional kisses. You can also give someone a solo butterfly kiss by fluttering your eyelids against their cheek.
Velocity of Gary

3. The Single-Lip Kiss
To give someone a single-lip kiss, take one of their lips between yours and gently suck or tug on it. It's an awfully romantic kiss, and if you do it right, you'll send tingles up and down your sweetie's spine.

Guy

4. The Spiderman Kiss
Based on the kiss in the 2002 movie Spider-Man, the Spiderman kiss involves kissing someone whose face is upside-down from yours, so your top lip kisses their bottom lip and vice versa.
Desire
5. The Earlobe Kiss
A great kiss to to perform while you're taking a break from lip kisses, the earlobe kiss involves taking someone's earlobe lightly between your lips and tugging gently downward. For a more intense earlobe kiss, add a little bit of tongue, or use a gentle sucking motion on their earlobe.
Mystic Pizza
6. The Lip Gloss Kiss
This is a fun, flirty kiss for girlfriends to give their boyfriends. Put on a healthy amount of lip gloss or ChapStick, then rub your lips on your partners' lips until theirs are coated, too. For extra fun, surprise your partner with a sweet, fruity lip gloss flavor.
Happy Accidents
7. The Eskimo Kiss
In an Eskimo kiss, two people rub their noses back and forth against each other. It's based on real kisses that people in Eskimo cultures give their friends. Just like with lip kisses, Eskimo kisses are best executed with your eyes closed.
Season 9 LOCI - Loyalty
8. The Cheek Kiss
The cheek kiss is exactly what it sounds like - a closed-mouth kiss against someone's cheek. Cheek kisses can be used as friendly greetings, flirty thank-you's or cute, unexpected ways to say good-bye to your boyfriend or girlfriend.

Crackers
9. The Hickey
A hickey technically isn't a kiss; it's a red mark (a bruise, really) left on the skin after someone sucks hard enough on it. Hickeys hurt a little to get, but some people think the sucking feels good, especially on the side of the neck.
Desire

10. The Secret Message Kiss
In the middle of a French kiss, spell out a secret message with the tip of your tongue against their tongue. It might feel a little funny to the other person, but at least you'll be getting your message across.

Hotel Paradise
11. The Wet Kiss
Wet kisses are any open-mouthed kisses, with or without tongue. A little bit of wetness during a kiss can be sexy, but try not to overdo it: too much saliva is sloppy. Alternate between wet kisses and closed-mouth kisses and single-lip kisses, and be sure to swallow occasionally so you don't accidentally drool all over your partner.
The Naked Tango

12. The Lizard Kiss
The lizard kiss involves flicking your tongue in and out of your partner's mouth in tight, quick strokes (picture the way a lizard moves its tongue). This is a silly kiss you can try just for fun, but it generally should be avoided because it feels kind of creepy to get.

Claire Dolan
13. The Biting Kiss
The biting kiss is a more aggressive form of the French kiss. Like the French kiss, it's open-mouthed and incorporates tongue, but as you pull back, your teeth lightly grab onto your sweetie's tongue for just a second.
Happy Accidents

14. The Angel Kiss
To give someone an angel kiss, kiss them very gently on their eyelids or on the spot right next to their eye, using just your lips. It's a very romantic way to wake someone up or say goodbye.

Fires Within
15. The Neck Kiss
After French kissing for a while, some people mix it up by trailing their mouth down and "Frenching" the other person's neck. To execute a neck kiss perfectly, go light on the saliva, focus on the motion of your lips, never stay in once place for very long and never suck hard enough to leave a hickey.

Crackers
16. The Jawline Kiss
To plant a jawline kiss on someone, give them a firm kiss on the bottom of their jaw, right where their face meets their neck. If they respond well to it, make a path of jawline kisses up to their ear and give them an earlobe kiss.
Happy Accidents
17. The Breath Kiss
The breath kiss is a fun, silly kiss that's almost more of a game than a kiss. To do it, open your mouth, inhale deeply and lock lips with your sweetie (like you're performing CPR). Slowly exhale into their mouth while they're inhaling, "passing" the breath to them. Without moving, slowly inhale while your partner exhales. Keep passing the breath back and forth until one of you runs out of breath or you both erupt in giggles.

Thumbsucker
18. The Love Kiss
Finally, the love kiss is any kiss that you give while thinking tender, loving thoughts about your partner. You might not realize it, but your kissing style can be influenced by whatever's on your mind. Smooching with love on your mind will make your kisses extra soft and sweet. Whether it's on your partner's mouth, neck, ear or forehead, the love kiss is the most romantic kiss you can give.

Vincent D'Onofrio in The New Tenants.

"J" is for Jan

In this dark American comedy, "The New Tenants", Vincent D'Onofrio plays Jan.  "The New Tenants" is about a eccentric couple who move into this lousy apartment and within a day are visited by some rather grim and portentous visitors.

Vincent's character comes in, with tire iron in hand, accusing both tenants of sleeping with his wife.  This all happens in the first 5 minutes of the film and his performance is just hilarious. The next 15 minutes is just as captivating.

The New Tenants won in Oscar for Best Live Action Short in 2010.  Watch it HERE

Vincent D'Onofrio's Hollywood D'os and D'onts

A-Z Blogging Challenge
"D" is for Do's, Don'ts, D'Onofrio and Director

This funny little video was made after Vincent's directorial debut of "Don't Go in the Woods" was released on Itunes and VOD

Making A Hit Can Be A Killer
DON’T GO IN THE WOODS is sound advice, especially when there’s a killer on the loose. First-time director Vincent D’Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket, Law & Order: Criminal Intent) explores love, greed and ruthlessness in this twisted musical/horror hybrid, telling the story of a young band who heads to the woods to get away from their everyday lives and focus on writing new songs. Hoping to walk away from the trip with new tunes that will score them their big break, they instead find themselves in the middle of a nightmare beyond comprehension.
Displaying the musical talents of a gifted ensemble cast as they sing songs penned by acclaimed singer-songwriter Sam Bisbee, DON’T GO IN THE WOODS unexpectedly veers from terrifying horror to musical moments that wouldn’t be out of place on Glee, truly keeping viewers captivated, terrified and entertained in equal measure.

It can be ordered on DVD Here

I Have a Celebrity Crush on Vincent D'Onofrio

A-Z blogging Challenge
"C" is for Celebrity Crush

Before meeting Vincent D'Onofrio I often dreamed about what my reaction would be if I were ever to meet him. He is after all just like you and I but yet I crave every new movie or picture made available to us. The paparazzi catch him on his bike riding the streets of New York , dressed in black and sporting sunglasses and I'm thrilled.

It's easy to blame the media for this "cognitive whiplash". But reality is it's my mind telling me that Vincent would make a great lover, husband or friend. Let's face it, Vincent's smile, his beautiful eyes and the way he talks with his hands are impossible to ignore. But when I indulge daily with Vincent even he is as distant as the heavens above.

Even Reality TV. transforms every day folks into celebrities. Even celebrities themselves aren't immune to watching Reality TV.

Celebrities foster our human yearnings of love, admiration, and gossip.

Is it not true that being a Vincent fan is a common currency in our "fractured" world? The common housewife, collage student, and even  men can spend hours watching Vincent on television or the internet, reading blogs, and the like. And during that time the world seems to be a little better.

There's something about Vincent that almost seems magical.  Pre-Vincent Encounter I wondered if meeting him would make me feel more real as a person. It wouldn't be so much that I was seeing Vincent, but more that Vincent was seeing me.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wrote this article well over a year ago and can now tell you that I view Vincent to be way more than "just a celebrity".  I hope over the next couple of weeks as I continue to make posts that you will see Vincent in the same light as I do.

Is Vincent D'Onofrio a Bad Boy?

A-Z Blogging Challenge
"B" is for Bad Boy

Some seem to think so and at times so do I.   Vincent has this careless way of throwing out the F-bomb that just makes my heart skip a beat.  He swaggers into a room and internal alarms sound.   I take one glance at his expression and posture (one hand in his pocket, loose hips and feet set apart) and deduce that he is a wild child at heart.  And oh yeah, I want a bite of that.  Not that I really need to explain myself--you’ve probably been brought to your knees on at least one occasion by a rebellious dude who’s so damn sexy.

Research from the University of British Columbia confirms our obsession.  They studied 1,000 participants and woman rated the “bad-boy” look to be the most captivating in comparison to guys who where “happy to please”.    We're more drawn to a man who promises to rip our clothes off with his teeth as opposed to promising us breakfast with roses in bed

In Vincent’s movies he’s played a couple bad boys and for me, they are some of his more memorable characters.  For example there’s Moriarty from Sherlock:Case of Evil, Officer Steckler from Strange Days, Ashton from The Thirteenth Floor and Cholo from The Naked Tango.

Not to mention Bobby Goren when he gets enraged and indignant , nothing sends the fireworks flying more.  I love me some “Angry Bobby”.  Bobby Goren is a rule breaker and a risk taker.  I love it that he’s not afraid to go against the grain.

But in all honesty, I don't think Vincent's a bad guy at all. He's done a lot of good. He supports the Utah Meth Cops Project, is spokesman for The National Law Enforcement Museum , and teaches aspiring film makers at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute  to be the best that they can be. But he can sure play one hell of a bad guy.

Look for "Chained", from director Jennifer Lynch coming soon. Vincent plays another bad boy in this movie. One of his most "darkest" roles, he says.

Do you know the Chameleon? He lives in NYC!

A-Z Blogging Challenge
Letter "A"

A is for Acronym

When ask, "Do you know Vincent D'Onofrio?" many of you will probably answer, "Sure, he's the detective from that cop show, Law and Order:Criminal Intent".

Detective Bobby Goren

But did you know that Vincent D'Onofrio has done more than 55 movies in his career and is still going strong?
He accredits friend Matthew Modine for helping him land the role as Pvt. Leonard "Gomer Pyle" Lawrence in Stanley Kubrick's film, Full Metal Jacket. This film was really the start and the break he needed to start a long and rewarding career in acting.  Some other movies you may be familiar with  are, Adventures in Babysitting as Dawson (aka "Thor) , Edgar the alien bug from Men In Black and the Carl Stargher, the serial killer in The Cell.

Because Vincent  is a character actor and likes to challenge himself, he quite often chooses roles that "scare" him. He has faced them head on and have reaped the rewards of his talent.   He is able to transform himself and get into the minds of the characters he plays,  giving him the fitting nick name of "The Chameleon".

I invite you to have a look at his impressive list of movies at his IMDB.
Not only will you discover the many roles that he's played over the years but also that he is a Director, Producer and Writer.

Currently Vincent is working on a script for a new cop drama called Blue Tilt. Deadline reports that he and Ethan Hawke will be playing two homicide detectives dealing with solving cases and the stresses of family. Potentially the pair will under go psychiatric evaluation.  Filming has yet to begin but I for one am looking forward to seeing Vincent in a regular series on television again.

Also, I'd like to give a special shout out and welcome to all my fellow A-Z bloggers this month. Good luck and happy blogging!

2012 A-Z Blogging Challenge with Vincent D'Onofrio.

A-Z Blogging Challenge

So I've joined the A to Z Blogging Challenge again this year.  It was so much fun last year.  I visited on an average 10 blogs a day.  I learned so much about blog design, what worked for a blog and what didn't and of course read some really great posts. Generally those that joined the challenge were poets and  writers, and used their blogs as a creative outlet. Others that I've came across  were photographers , comic book collectors, video game enthusiastic, Moms, and political  crusaders.  My blog was very unique in a way that it was the only one that was a fan site. It did make me wonder if I had made the right decision in joining the challenge but am I ever glad I did.

So I look forward as you join me next month. I'll had a  new and exciting post every day during the month of April, all having to do with Vincent.  See you then!
